I'm looking at buying a used VTF-3R. The specs look great, and it comes in a beautiful rosewood cabinet which would perfectly match my Rockets. Here's the only review I can find on it:

Before I buy it, I wanted to check to see what would be comparable to the VTF-3R in Hsu's current lineup? What would be the closest model now to the VTF-3R? Has Hsu's design technology changed so much that the VTF-3R is considered dated, or is it still a quality sub even by today's standards?

Thank you

Should be very similar to the current VTF3-MKII, or the current VTF2-MKIII I believe?

I'll say though, it sure looks better than the current models!! ;)

Now, everyone chant "HO-R, HO-R, HO-R" ... oh wait, that doesn't sound too nice! :D

alderash, the VTF-3R is most definitely not dated! This is a great sub, and still one of the top subs in the $600 and below category. Note that there are two versions of VTF-3R. The older one had a 250w class A/B amplifier, while newer ones were outfitted with 350w BASH amplifiers similar to what is on the VTF-3 Mk2 today. Both are excellent though, great extension down to 16Hz.

And pbcsd is exactly right, they look like real furniture too!

Great -- thanks for the responses, guys. The sub should be here in a couple of days!
