I have a medium size room (this could change to large in the near future if I plan on proposing to my girlfriend anytime soon lol)
and I plan to use the system for the following:

Gaming: 45%
Watching TV/DVD Movies: 35%
Listening to Music: 20%
Ignoring costs, my questions are the following:

Should I go with one subwoofer or two?
Which HSU Sub(s) would you recommend for my room size and media use? Thanks for your help.

Do you have the exact measurements of your room? How loud do you listen to your media? Without knowing the specifics I would say......

VTF3-HO with a MBM-12. That will leave you lots of headroom if you go to bigger room. The VTF3-HO will go deeper with less distortion and the MBM-12 will give you the mid-bass punch.

Or

Dual VTF3.3

Before anything I would give HSU a call, they will help recommend you the right sub(s) and won't try to oversell you(unlike myself, as I believe in no such thing as excessive overhead.;) )

cugine,

I think matt34 is right and maybe a bit jumping the gun. That sub is one of the most powerful ones out for the money and is way overkill if you simply like to have a little more bass and good quality, clean extension into the teens. However, if you like the bass and deepest trolling sounds, it will work well for you. The MBM will pick up a lot of the midbass and the HO can handle all things lower to 16Hz but will most likely pick up 12-15Hz depending!

As another option, and not saying it is right or wrong, I have the VTF-2 MK 3 and I have a 4500cuft space to fill (15'6" x 15'10" x 18'6"h + open staircase and into hall! It does more than enough 'for me.' I do like the idea of what the Ho w/turbo can do and maybe when we have that "dedicated" sound room and I can escape into the hidden and secluded mental mastur______ that is cinema (can I say that?), I will look into that option. Until then, I will have to deal with my lowly 2.3 that will only extend to a paltry 16Hz ;)

Cugine, you will have a lot of suggestions here but matt34 was right about calling HSU and talking with Dr. Hsu about this as he will be able to guide you in the right direction. Also, in the moving up to larger sub for a larger room if you are going to "get engaged/married" to her. Matter of fact, you should go ahead and get engaged and start looking for the larger room to house the HO/turbo... oh, and she can live there too! :p

I have not specifically tested the SPL of the 2.3 as I am not 100% on how to do it short of turing it up and playing different sounds. I keep claiming 16Hz on the forum as I use the HSU test CD and can feel the shaking of the 16Hz tones rattle my home! It has the 18Hz max extension switch on the back that I use when testing this but since I can feel the 16Hz, I claim 16HZ! I don't know how loud I can do that depth without the excursion of the woofer messing up or breaking something so I don't even try to turn it up past -15dB on the D1905. I hope this helps. If anyone can tell me exactly how to test and use the SPL and where to put the SPL when testing, I will test it this week or tonight. I need to know exactly how to make adjustments for each Hz level as I hear you have to add some Hz to the actual read for some reason.

Sorry if we hijacked your thread... :(
