Any chance that it will be down firing like the STF-3? I know the VTF-3R is down firing, but I prefer the black finish.

Sasha has said on this forum that all new and future Hsu subs (that he knows about) are going to be downfiring (inc the revised VTF-3)

If you prefer the black finish, I think you will be really impressed with the new VTF-3. Stay tuned, we will hear about it very soon now.

Out of curiosity, has anyone heard about when/if the VTF-3 Mk II will be offered in Rosewood?
thanks

Sasha might correct me but from what has been mentioned the VTF-3 MK2 is only going to be avaliable in glossy Piano Black. I would like to see a less glossy version as not everyone likes to have their sub become a beacon for every light reflection in the room. The STF finish would be a cheap optional finish for those who are not so driven to gloss black.

I agree. I would prefer a more understated finish for exactly this reason. I really like the newer finish on the VTF-2 and would hope for something like it on the new VTF-3 MK2.

I have an NHT sub that is the same finish.
it is beautiful and all you do is dust it - which is very easy due to the quality finish.
PS: I am glad I don't work for HSU. You guys sound like a bunch of 6 year olds. Nothing is ever good enough for some of you.
When I purchased my first pair of HSU subs about 10 years ago, I had all black furniture (NYC). The finish on the subs didn't go well with the room, so I painted them black.
I'd say - if you don't like the finish on your sub, cover it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DR Hsu, I respect your decisions, and wish you good luck & tons of well deserved profit $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ for you!!!!!!!

I agree completely. Unfortunately, a high gloss piano black finish will definitely keep me from buying the new VTF-3 :(

I'm excited about the new VTF 3 MKII.
Piano black is gorgeous!
Piano black and this quality for $799 - I'm impressed.
Wait to go Sasha and Dr. Hsu!

Why?

For some, the high gloss will not look good in their decor.
For me, the furniture in my livingroom is light colored woods....mostly maple. Although my VTF-3 does not match it, it sits in corner, and does not draw too much attention.
The gloss black will draw much more attention, and probably will look more out of place...but I still want one :)..... understandably, others will not want it.
Give me a maple finish and I will be all over it!

forced to agree on the need for the maple finish....light wood in my place as well. Continuing the Rosewood would be a good idea too, but perhaps there's not enough demand for the Mark II version...

Why? Because I find high gloss piano black finishes to be extremely unattractive.

There will always be that .1% that would find piano gloss back to be "unattractive" (they shudder when seeing a grand piano!). I also do not think that it reflects light in such a major fashion. Anyway, when watching movies or listening to music, it is better to dim the lights. But I do think it may be a good idea to offer some other finishes, even if there is an added expense for customization, because many will be willing to pay for it.

I'm listening. Light maple is another popular option. But we are trying as hard as we can to please the majority. I won't bore you with the details, but things are busy.
After things are less busy next year, I will do another pole and if we can come up with some feasible wood versions I will lobby for it.

When my stereo budget recouperates from the B&W Nautilus 800 series system my wife just gave me the thumbs up on.....Mmmmmm.....Drool.....I am absolutely looking into an HSU sub to compliment. I'd pay extra for a natural cherrywood finish to match my existing gear. You guys have great subs!
