Good morning,
I have recently hooked up a ULS DD.:)
When it was first hooked up I had the wireless transmitter within 3-4 feetof the ULS's.
After further setup I moved the wireless transmitter across the room (approx 12ft.) and now I experience some occasional popping and clicking:eek:.
I'm thinking that this is the wireless setup which is not a problem because I can either move the transmitter back to the original location or direct wire them.
I was wondering if the popping and clicking was a manifestation of a wireless issue?
Thank you, bzmanbass

Hi bzman,

A low level popping sound usually indicates some type of wireless interference. The only time the driver itself would ever make a popping noise is at super high excursions at very low frequencies where the transducer has reached it's excursion limits.

Sincerely,

Thanks Pete,
I moved the transmitter back and sounds great!

Glad to hear the wireless is working for you. Also really happy you decided to join the DD Club. But now that it is working with the wireless feature what are you thoughts on their performance? Or did you forget that part? lol

I've been rattl'n the windows in between carpeting moving furniture etc.;)
I've got them set up right behind my recliner and I'm loving it,
I will have a complete review in the up coming weeks along with pics.
Well back to work, I have to pick up a new mattress & box springs then re-run audyssey , or do I hang the new curtains first:eek:
Thanks for check'n in, Bzb:D

I had trouble with the ULS-15 wireless connection because of my 2.4Ghz cordless telephone. The interference was on all four channels. Luckily, my current SW location allows me to use a wired connection--otherwise, I would have had to get a different telephone.

I didn't realize that a DD system required a remodeling job :p hehehe

I love my ULS-15 as a sub, but I've had nothing but trouble with the wireless connectivity. Some days it works great, but more often than not I get annoying pops. The distance is less than 10feet and line-of-sight, but there are just too many 2.4GHz sources nearby from surrounding houses, a condo complex, etc. I've tried changing channels and using directional antennas, etc. (I'm a wireless electrical engineer so I hopefully know what I am doing), but I've just about given up. Hard-line is simply not practical because of the room layout. I'm now pinning my hopes on the Audioengine AW1 wireless TX/RX. It is a much 'smarter' design than the Hsu wireless option; it utilizes true digital transmission with error correction and channel hopping. I'll post a report when it comes in. If that doesn't work, I'll have to roll my own!

Follow-up: the AudioEngine AW-1 works as advertised. In a room setup where the built-in Hsu wireless pops almost continually even though the link distance is less than 10 feet (but admittedly with a crowded 2.4GHz), the AW-1 is perfect. Frequency response of the link at 15kHz is supposedly down only 1.5dB Hsu should seriously considering OEM'ing this solution given the issues with their own wireless link. Highly recommended!

I appreciate the feedback ddkumar, we will certainly look into this!

FYI: The wireless TX/RX chipset inside the AudioEngine AW1 is made by Avnera Corp.
