Hey all,
I recently bought a CD titled "The Big Picture" with conductor Erich Kunzel and the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra performing songs from different movies. Between each track are some low bass sound effects which really get the house rocking. A lot of fun and for $AUD6.95 money well spent.
There are a couple of other new releases with sound effects. Most of the recordings are in 20bit digital or DSD.

My processor has a the ability to play any freq in the 10-200hz range. When I push the 10hz sine wave through my 1220, I see the woofer moving vigorously, but the sound level is not very strong.. Though I am very surprised to see the woofer move in a very controlled manner w/o sputtering or bottoming out.

The infrasonic filter in the Hsu subs would not allow frequencies that low to be reproduced at sufficient levels. Would be fun if it did though :). I wonder what the major challenges are in creating an infrasonic sub woofer with a frequency response that is flat till 5 Hz.

Don't forget you wouldn't be able to hear anything that deep. Even though reviewers have measured around 100 db at 11 Hz on the TN-1220s, it is more of an "air-shaking all around you" sensation.

Even though there is a infrasonic filter on the amp, it is a active sub, so all one has to do is turn up the gain up and up.
If it was a passive infra filter, one would not have enough power to move the driver to sufficient level @ 10hz.

It is the Meridian 565 v6.2 processor. Also, the bottom freq is 9hz, not 10.
