That's beautiful Manu, thank you for sharing the pics of your subwoofer and your family in India :)

Maybe someday you can invite friends over who have the Acoustimass bass module so that they can hear your "true" subwoofer :D

Thank you my friend

Sincerely,

Sir I haven't play it that much hard coz I have a fear of distorting it though 1 friend who the only 1st person 2 listen it until now said awesome he feels the vibration during terminator salvation demo

If you want to feel safe playing the sub at high levels, then leave the port plug in, but set the bass extension switch to the '2 port open' mode.

sir what is the purpose of this method and do it goes down 16hz with the above set up u mentioned

Leaving one port plugged with bass extension switch in the down position results in an overdamped (ie. more rolled off) response vs the max extension mode. The subwoofer will play deeper in this mode than in the max output mode, while having higher headroom than max extension mode. So it's worth trying out. On the other hand, never run the subwoofer with both ports open and bass extension switch set to the up position, as the driver can be damaged due to lack of subsonic filtering below the port tuning frequency.

so in this mode it will not get down to 16hz then sir i'm ok with my previous setup i have tried playing the sub at higher volumes(-80db to +18db and i play it at -15db ) last night and no sign of distortion :) i have set sub dial to 10'o clock position and set subs level in avr at -14db

The subwoofer will not be flat to 16Hz in an anechoic environment in that mode, but with enough room gain, it can certainly play pretty flat down to 16Hz when used that way.

so you mean to say i can use my sub set up with one port plug and switch to 2ports open ,if it can play to 16hz then its ok for me and sir i have enough bass traps in my ht do you think by using 2ports open switch and one port plug helps in mainting 16hz in ht with bass traps and what is anechoic environment?

I recommend trying the sub both ways to see what works best. Even with bass traps, you may have some room gain at very low frequencies which means that the subwoofer will play quite low in the overdamped mode.

When I say anechoic environment, I refer to an environment that is away from reflective surfaces. We measure frequency response outside and away from reflective surfaces, which is a quasi-anechoic environment.

thanks pete sir ,i like one port plug switch which plays enough kinda shakes my couch but with overdamped mode lows were there but not the enjoyment i have with one port plug and switch also to one port open
