Need some help with sub selection and placement. Primarily for movies, looking at (2) HB-1 and (1) HC-1 for front speakers.

I think the VTF-3 would be best for my area, but for budget reasons, I'm leaning towards (1) VTF-2 MK3.

Where I will have my setup is in the living room, which is an open concept to the kitchen. The normal picture is from the previous owners to give an idea of what the open concept looks like for us. From my very amateur MS Paint drawing you can see how the room is laid out now.

Of the living room itself, not including the breakfast table area, is about 30x25x10.

How should I go about calculating the other areas in? Do you think the VTF-2 would suffice?

Also, from my drawing, where do you think is the best sub placement? I could move the couch against the window, but wife would probably nix that, so lets say that there is not a great way to get around sitting in the middle of the room. Also, the fireplace is used MAYBE once a year.

Thanks!

Hi gpank,

That is a very large overall volume of space. I recommend going with the VTF-3 MK3 if possible. That said, if you have very strict budget and/or enclosure size constaints, then go with VTF-2 MK3.

You can place the subwoofer sideways in the front of the room, where the plant is currently placed.

Sincerely,

Yes, you can feel my pain a bit... I thought about using a smaller room for this, but need the space for other things unfortunately.

Thanks for the help, Pete!
