I have read that the Lft/Rt speakers should be at ear level. I have also read that the center, lft and rt speakers should be at the same level. My TV is inset above a ventless fireplace. As a result, the positon of the center speaker will probably be at about 8' above the floor. What would give me the best performance: move the L/R up to the same level as the center speaker and slant them down, or put them at ear level? Thanks for the advice

I think the most common recommendation is to have the L/R speakers within 24 inches of the height of the center channel. I left my L/R speakers at ideal height and angled down my center channel (which is around 6 1/2 feet off the floor). If it's possible, just play around with your placement to see what sounds best for you.

Hello:

I suppose you could cure most any hight positioning issue with proper calibration of your speakers.

Grab an SPL meter and calibrate the levels of all your speakers based on your listening position.
