I am hoping in the next few months to get a new sub. I currently have an old DCM sub that I dont think does very good. The room that the sub will go in is roughly 15X12X8. I watch mostly blu rays and listen to a small amount of music. Will the STF 1 do well in that room or would I be better off going for the STF 2? Also what is the best way to get the best deals on these subs?

Hi Justphil, welcome to the forum!
Does your room open to any other areas of the house, and if so, what are those dimensions (HxWxD)?
Provided that the room doesn't open up to any large volume of space, then STF-1 should work well in that space.
The main benefit of the STF-2 is higher headroom, deeper bass extension, and a bit lower distortion. So if your budget is flexible enough, and you don't mind the somewhat larger enclosure, then that is a great choice too.
Sincerely,

Yes the room opens into our entryway through a door less opening.]
The opening is about 5X7 and opens intoa room approx 15X5. I am seriously considering the STF 2 for the same reasons you listed. I just know I wont be able to afford much but really want one of your subs. They get amazing reviews and you are obviously a top notch company.

Hi Justphil,
Try to do the best that you can. The STF-1 is a very impressive subwoofer, so on a super tight budget, I'm sure you will like it. If you can save up a little bit extra, then you can step up to the STF-2.
Sincerely,

Good morning,:)
I have a room approx. 13 X 14 X 8.5.
I had a STF-2 and it really did well in that size room for Blurays and also music.
Many people (myself included) will tell you to go with the biggest/best sub you can afford.
Pete can help you position your sub to get the best performance and SQ.
Good luck and have fun!:D

Yeah I understand the most sub I can afford. I was initially drawn to some lower dollar subs but from everything I see and read it seems I would be selling myself short by purchasing 1. I hate wanting things lol. Seems like my desires and my budget never go hand in hand =P
