There have been several postings on other forums regarding the proper way to connect the ULS-15. I would like to get your responses on several areas of confusion:
1. Using a Y-cable to connect the single mono subwoofer out connection from the AVR to both the left and right inputs on the ULS-15 results in an approximately 6 dB gain, but no difference in sound quality. Since balancing all speakers to a 75 dB level when playing the AVR reference tones is an objective, this 6 dB gain simply results in achieving the 75 dB reference level at a lower setting of the sub’s gain control. So, whether the sub is connected using only one input, or both inputs, really makes no difference in the final performance of the sub. Is this a correct statement?
2. When using the wireless connection, using a Y-cable to connect the single mono subwoofer out connection from the AVR to both the left and right inputs on the wireless transmitter provides no benefit at all. Using a single input is perfectly acceptable. Is this a correct statement?
3. Providing a signal to two (or four) ULS-15’s from a single wireless transmitter connected to the single mono subwoofer out connection from the AVR is perfectly acceptable. Is this a correct statement?
And finally, a question: What advantage does connecting the ULS-15 with an XLR cable provide? Better sound quality?
