Hi,

I recently purchased a HSU STF-2 Sub for my desktop set-up and I made the mistake of not verifying if I could actually hook them up via RCA out off my speakers.

My current set up goes like this

Mac pro optical > Zero DAC > Aktimate Mini powered loudspeakers via RCA out from the DAC.

The Aktimates feature a RCA out that I originally though I could use to hook up the sub, but that doesn't seem to be the case considering the STF-2 only takes speaker wire and sub in

here is a link to the specifications of the Aktimates

http://www.aktimate.com/Mini%20Specification.htm

and here are the specifications for the Zero dac

Specifications of the ZERO 24 BIT/192KHz DAC/Headphone Amp/Pre-Amp:
Receive chip: CS8416
Decode chip: AD1852
Analog operational amplifier chip: OPA2604
Signal to noise ratio: 120dB
Total harmonic distortion: 0.0005%
Dynamic range: 117dB
Frequency response: 20Hz - 30 kHz
Analog output level: 2V
Input interface:
One independent digital fiber input
One independent digital coaxial input
One RCA analog signal unbalanced output
One 6.3mm headphone signal output
Time delay switch for ON/OFF protection circuit
Individual PCB design for future upgrade capability
Hi End components and IC (less than 1% tolerance)
Separate and individual voltage regulators
Dual Mono Amp design
Double face PCB for reducing size
Power Usage: Only 10 Watts

I would like to know if it would be possible to make this particular set up work in any way, i'm willing to buy whatever adapter/cables necessary.

Thanks in advance,

Palakas

Hi Palakas,

It seems that all you need is a custom cable to sum up left and right rca output signals to mono in order to feed the STF-2 low level input. We can make a custom cable (one male end to feed to the STF-2 low level input, and two female ends for the left/right rca pre-outs). Feel free to call us to order one.

Sincerely,
