I finally got my HSU sub, a maple VTF-3.3 since I grew tired of waiting for an HO (no regrets). On impulse, I also snagged a pair of HB-1's in maple being a horn'y kind of guy.:) I must say that, in direct comparison to my Klipsch Forte II's, they hold their own pretty well. The HB-1 images better than the floorstanders (most standmount speakers do) and they sound about as dynamic as the Fortes. The midrange is a bit thinner sounding but that should be easy to fix with a tweak of the internal crossover but overall I have to say that for $250/pair they are a darn good bargain. I'll post some internal pics soon.

Once again, thanks for the pics. I am so close to pulling the trigger on a set of these. Can you give some more impressions? Are they detailed, do they do well with music, are they very dynamic on movies without distortion? I just bought a pair of Onix Rocket RS 450's and really like them but I am considering returning them and getting the Hsu's. The HSU's just seem too good of a bargain to pass up on. With the money I will be saving I can put that towards a HSU VTF3-HO!

Yes, they do reveal alot of detail and decay. They are a bit compressed sounding at higher volumes but I am running them as full range. They would fare better if there low end was crossed over to the sub at about 80Htz. I think the VFT-3 Mk3 would be a better choice over the HO from what I'm reading since it is reported to be better in the mid bass and that is precisely what most standmounts need (like the HB-1) to fill that hole that occurs between mid and low bass. The VFT-3 Mk3 seems to be the perfect blend of detailed, articulate midbass with similar low end extention of the HO. I've got a Turbo on order for mine but I doubt that I really need it.

Hello:

I have 4 HB-1's and and HC-1 and I love them. I am not the audio expert that many are but I am very happy with them.
