Here are the guts of an HB-1 if anyone is interested. Not bad for a $125 speaker but some obvious cost-reducing component choices. The woofer is decently beefy and is probably the best quality component in the HB-1. The horn is not a compression driver like true horns are and is nothing more than a metal dome tweeter on the end of a flare. I'm gussing that Dr Hsu has pushed the lower crossover limits of this tweeter in order to flesh out as much mid band as possible from the little driver. He seems to have done a good job with doing so. I am disappointed to see electrolytic caps used for the woofer in the crossover as this will bring huge penalties in mid bass detail. For $15 each generic polypropylene caps would have been a much wiser choice.;)

Thanks for the pics. I have been seriously considering purchasing these. That does look like a very beefy woofer they use.
