I recently put a large plant on top of my subwoofer. It sits in a large glass container that is filled with gravel. It is a foot wide and weighs at least 25 pounds. Is it bad to have something that heavy on top of the cabinet? I assume this is fine but want to make sure this isn't going to cause damage to the cabinet over time.

This is just fine Andrew, the long-term reliability will not be affected in any way.

It might be a good idea to put a tablecloth under the plant so it doesn't leave a imprint or indentation on the sub, and also to protect the sub's finish against water spills.

I never thought this an issue before really and still assume it isn't. I have a 60+ lb receiver sitting on a vtf3.3, with a towel between the two to protect the surface. Will that kinda weight have any ill effects? Thanks.

Hi driftwood,
That type of weight will not affect the subwoofer in any way (after all, some people stack one heavy sub on top of another with no problems at all). That said, try to minimize vibrational energy to the receiver to as much extent as possible. I am sure that the soft pad (or something like sticky tack) in between the two items will significantly help in that regard.
