Here is what I have so far for my HT set up. I have the Sony KDSR60XBR1 for my television set,I use my PS3 for my bluray/dvd player,I just ordered the Onkyo TX-SR804 receiver, Ascend Acoustics 340SE's all the way around,L,C,R and a pair of 340SE's for the rear. Now I would like to add a sub to all of this. What would a HT system be without a sub, right? My living room is about 16'x16' with 8 foot ceilings. What do you receommmend? Thanks for the info.

Welcome to the forum jmy!
May I ask what budget constraints you have for the subwoofer purchase?
I would start with STF-2 or VTF-1 as a minimum in your room.

the stf-2 is quite nice. i own 1 and its impressive. But if i had the cash i would go for the VTF-2 MK 3 for sure. it would be over $500 though. shipped it would run you $552. dont know if your $500 includes shipping but it be worth saving an extra $50 to get it.

yea i know what you mean. i take it you listen mostly at medium volumes instead of refference levels? but you wouldnt have to run it hard to get the sound you need. and if you ever move to a bigger place you have all the sub you need. least thats my opinion.

Hey jmy I have the VTF-3 MK2 about 6 months old Great Sub! I'm thinking about upgrading to the VTF-3 MK3. The VTF-3 Mk2 will be looking for a new home real soon. $550.00 shipped if interested.

You have two options....if you live in an apartment, get the larger sub and keep it down. you don't know when you are going to move. Or get the smaller sub and play it safe. I have a 2.3 and really love it. Either way you won't go wrong.
