Has anyone already received the STF-2 and heard/experienced it at home? I'm going to anyway order one by tomorrow, to make use of the free shipping, but was just curious.
Thanks

Chris, been learking on the forum for a while now.. and should be getting my STF-2 Wednesday... can you tell me what kind of 'playing' and tweaking you had to do to setup your STF-2 ? Also.. you asked in another thread.. did it come with that bass CD you referenced ? Thanks.. Can't wait for mine to arrive... I guess I'm way further east than you..mine shipped 11/19th..:)

Chris,
How big is your room, are you play loud? Does STF2 feel short?
Thanks,

Chris,
What I means is when you watching movie, do you feel STF-2
not going deep enough or strong enough? With the room size
you have(which similar to mine), VFT3 or PB2 are usually recommanded.

Any one that also have a competent or equivalent sub that they could compare it with?
I don't know if it would be too beneficial if one A/B it with their HTIAB sub and thinks the Hsu is so much better.
If there is no sub for reference, then a comparision on musical basis would more desirable than saying how this thing cracked my TV screen, etc.

LOL
What is wrong with the "my new sub hit 120dB at 20Hz" type of review. After all I happen to know subwoofers that have been selling very well on such important internet reviews by customers. Here I was thinking that having the biggest baddest Spl number was the only important feature on which to buy a subwoofer. Please Do not tell me there is more to a subwoofer buying than the SPL peak measurement.
"Boy wait till some of the A/V forums find this out"!
LOL

Actually a comparison between STF2, VTF2 and Adire RAVA will be
very helpful for people looking in $400 range.
As for SPL, to me, what I'm looking for is a wider(extension) and
flat(small +/- dB) freq. response, the absolute SPL level doesn't
mean too much because no one will enjoy listening at max SPL.
What matters is when you adjust the volume to your enjoyable
level, there is no noticable SPL difference across the spec range.

CT - you are on the HSU forum!
When you say things like: """not going deep enough or strong enough""" - that is an insult. Have you read what the reviews are on the other 10 inch sub woofer????(VTF 2)
Dr Hsu simply doesn't make... actually let me put it this way. Dr Hsu designs are ALL exceptional products. He doesn't make a half ass product. You will always get the best value for your $$$$.
The 10 inch sub will blow your mind!!!
I wish I could demonstrate to you what 2 of his car subs do at only $139.00 per woofer even though they are underpowered right now.

Sorry I didn't make it clear:
What I'm trying to get is for Chris's size of room, is STF-2 enough,
would STF-3 or VTF-3 better? I never say STF-2 is not good, just
want to know how to choose one good enough for that size of room and
that kind of taste(which quite similar to my case).

if you can afford the 3 then by all means get it - why not have the best?

tdekany, there is no best sub at all or you can say every sub is
best. When we talk about best, we mean best sub for certain
situation(music or HT, room size, etc). It's not always true the bigger the better, if STF2 is sufficient and will be tighter for music, why go with 3?

CT2 is right in many respects, except that you should expect all STF's and VTF's to have impeccable sound quality. With Hsu, more boom does not equal less tight for music, fortunately, because he absolutely knows what he is doing.

Exactly - best meaning the best cube Hsu makes.
And please don't start with ""smaller woofer = tighter bass. It is symply not true.
Better yet, get 2 1220TNs!
You sound like (CT2) you have never heard a HSU sub when you talk about one sub for music vs another one for HT etc...
You will see where I am coming from once you get yours.
I will still say, that if you can afford it get the 3s.

It's not true after you take out the context. But I'm talking about STF-2 and 3, which are based on same design. So basic physical
rule makes the tiny difference about bigger driver consumes more power, moves more air and respond slower.

The part of I haven't heard a HSU sub is absoulte true because
STF-2 and 3 are just available. Compare to other vented sub, HSU's low Q design makes it a great balanced sub in either usage.
I hope I could get both STF-2 and 3 to do a A/B comparision.
I will still say, that if you can afford it get the 3s.
Thanks for the advice, I will go with STF-2 as Dr. HSU suggested for my room and taste, not because I can't afford 3.

That is simply not true.
Hopefully, the Dr will make that clear for you.

Thanks, from Chris' experience, I'm sure I will.
BTW, for others still on the fence, HSU will show all their new lines
in C.E.S. Las Vegas, can't wait to see Dr. Hsu and Sasha there.

For what its worth, I have heard a VTF-2 and a VTF-3. The sound of the the two, in the ranges that they both can play, is practically indistinguishable.
The VTF-3 can just play louder and lower.
Quality bass means good driver control, and I think Dr. Hsu has it well at hand.
