Hi, all,

For dowm firing sub like newly introduced STF line and new VTF,
if I have padded carpet over concrete slab, will it performs better
if I put a piece of stone under subwoofer? People telling me to do
so said carpet will absorb lot's of energy without the stone.

Thanks for advice,

From what I have read, it will not make a difference.

Maybe the good Dr. can clarify.

If you put a wall of carpet & padding in front of a front firont subwoofer, practically nothing would be absorbed by it. If it were so, bass traps would consist of nothing more than sheets of sonex.

The stone might be better at reflecting the higher order distortion produced by the driver, not to mention the clunking sound that some other subs might make when bottoming out.
