Hi, I have an "older" VFT-2 (bought in 2001) that has served me faithfully and done an awesome job. But recently it has begun to give me some trouble.
The sub began to give an almost inaudible (but certainly tactile) buzz that I would notice in the morning after a night of using the home theater system. The buzz would stop and would work fine again after turning the power off and then back on. But then the buzz would return about a week later. This situation has gone on for about 3 months.
Last night, I was watching Terminator Salvation, and about a 1/3 of the way through the film. I noticed that the sub was simply not working. The green "on" light was lit up, but no output. I turned it off, and this time ithe driver made multiple sickening "thud" sounds (about four in rapid succession) before turning off completely.
I am assuming that the amp is completely blown. If anyone has any advice, it would be appreciated (by the way, I have loved this sub and the amp has worked well past its warranty date, no complaints).
