Hi,

I am owning the Klipsch KSW15 sub for 4 years now and I don't like it that much. I plan to replace it with another one and move it upstair. My brother owns a Sunfire true sub. signature and I did hear it and it sounds very, very good. How does the SFT3 or VFT3 compare to Sunfire subs?

Thank you.

I had a MKIV version of the Sunfire sub before I went HSU. In my room, a single TN1220HO completely smoked the Sunfire in SPL, and more importantly, Sound Quality; I've got 2 TN1220HO subs.

With that out of the way, a single VTF-3 should outperform the Sunfire in every respect, as a VTF-3 is almost identical in performance to a single TN1220HO... The only thing the Sunfire can do better is to hide, since it is a tiny cube.

The Sunfire subs hit upwards of 30% or more THD when you try to get over 100dB out of them down low. A VTF-3 should do >100dB with under 5% THD in a modest room. I'm not sure how a STF-3 will perform, as they aren't out yet. I suspect the STF-3 will also hand any Sunfire sub its lunch by belting out more SPL with much better sound quality. The quality of bass you get from HSU is the greatest thing I noticed when I switched.

I once thought bass was bass. This is not correct. I'd never heard fingers plucking strings, nor had I head the different textures in bass notes until I got the HSU.

You are doing yourself a great service by looking into HSU subs. They are among the best bang (boom) for the buck subs out there, and they also happen to be among the best sounding subs available at any price.
