View Full Version : HB-1 & Ventriloquist

Hello, out there. I've just moved into a new house where I've got a little more lee-way for speaker size. I'm currently using the Ventriloquist system with 6 satellites. My questions are:
1. Were I to order the HB-1's, could I use the ventriloquist center channel? 2. If yes, would I need to turn the ventriloquist feature off?

Thank you for any help you may offer.

I apologize if similar questions have been asked before - I couldn't find anything in my searches.

I would suggest you get a full set of the HB-1 which is best to match timbre on them. Also, you are talking a litte more than $100 for the additional speaker. This would allow you to keep the V-12 system for another room or to resell if you wish. I think you will be best satisfied with the extra HB-1. Additionally the V-12 works best as a set and breaking it up would create a large dip in performance from what others say. Can you do it.... yes, but it would not be recommeneded!

Thank you for the reply A/C - one clarification question for you - when you say an entire set, do you mean 6 HB-1 plus HB center, or 2 HB-1 plus HB center?

I'd certainly keep the V speakers for future use. I'm very happy with the current performance, and can justify (to myself, anyway!) a $300-$400 expense to upgrade, but not a $700 to $800 expense. Thanks for your reply.

You can choose how many to pick up but I was referring to the three across the front for now. If you can pick them up five or six at a time that is great. Someone just got them for $109 I think but not sure how, review threads and get in touch with them. The VT-12 is best when used TOGETHER, spend the extra cash to do it right... FR, FL, C HB-1 solution would be smart. Pick up the 2.3 or 3.3 as well if you don't have one, you will be glad you did. With HB-1, they also recommend the MBM for the upper mids. Kind of a pkg set will make the HB-1 sound best. Good luck, tough decision but all will end up costing around $1K+ when you set up like you want. It is an investment, this is why we spend so much time before we buy speakers! Most normal people keep theirs over a decade so make sure you are pleased with sound and negate the cost to a degree.
