Hello,

I have a VTF-3 MK1 (front firing) in a room with crappy acoustics. Part of the problem is that I sit in the middle of the room. I have attached a layout of the room and would appreciate some suggestions. Keep in mind that I can't move the furniture around due in part to WAF and other logistical reasons. The bass sounds best if I stand in the corner where the floor lamp is. Thanks!

Hi sfric,

Thanks for the diagram! Any chance that you can put the subwoofer in between the two couches (ie. upper middle portion of the diagram), or along the front left wall as viewed from the main listening position (ie. upper right portion of the diagram)?

Thanks, Pete. Actually, it's a sectional sofa... I just couldn't find that icon in the gliffy interface. I tried placing it along the wall (approximately where the window is) as you suggested but didn't notice any difference. I think I'll order a longer cable to experiment further along the wall, maybe even where the lamp is in the upper left corner of the diagram. What do you think? My wife says it already sounds fantastic. Maybe she's right and I'm getting greedy with the bass. ;) I'll keep you posted. Thanks again!

Hi sfric,

Certainly the more placement positions you can try, the better! One easy way to do it would be to put the subwoofer literally at your main listening position on the couch, play some music with some deep bass and mid-bass content, and crawl around the room to find out where the bass sounds the strongest or the most to your liking. Then place the subwoofer in that location.

The back left corner placement (ie. upper left hand corner of the diagram) would be very effective if your listening position was located near the back wall, but unfortunately that is not the case. My preference would be to have the VTF sub as close to the front left corner as possible (as viewed from the main listening position).

Sincerely,
