I plan touse the subwoofer in a wood paneled den whcich is 18 x 16. I just purchased an Onkyo TX-SR805 receiver and plan to use existing (but dated) 2 x Design Acoustics PS-88 and 2x BIC Venturi bookshelf speakers. Planning on buying the HSU center channel speaker.

SVS makes some strong comments about having bought all subwoofers in the $400 range and that their component quality and performance is the best by far.

I am hoping somebody can comment on the component quality of these two subwoofers in comparison to each other. Or another model to consider as well.

Best regards.

Welcome greggie!

We take pride in engineering great low-cost high performance subwoofer designs.

We've had some people on our forum compare our 10" subs with the PB10. Here are their impressions:

As you can see, using the most common source material, the STF-2/VTF-2 Mk2/VTF-1 more than hold their own in comparison. The STF-2 only costs $349 with a fixed low $30 shipping too!!!

With respect to component quality, we put a lot of effort into designing high quality products. That is why we are able to offer a 7 year warranty on our drivers, which is virtually unheard of in high performance true subwoofers.

If one wants to have the great sound quality of the VTF-2 Mk2/VTF-1/STF-2, in addition to even higher output and strong deep bass extension down to 16-18Hz, then the $499 VTF-2 Mk3 (with 12" woofer) is the way to go.

Sincerely,
