How much contribution to sound does the mount for the Ventriloquist satellites make?
What would happen, for instance, if one hung them free-floating on picture wire from the ceiling?
The reason I ask is that I plan to mount my satellites on 4" x 12" ceiling beams, angled in and down. My plan is to use steel strapping (the kind available from Home Depot that comes with holes punched in it), bolt the straps on the face of the beams, bolt the speakers onto the straps, and then bend the straps until the speakers are angled at the listening area. My ceilings are 10', and the satellites are about 11' feet from the listening area, so this makes a significant angle away from the ceiling.
What I guess I'm really asking is whether the mass of the satellite speakers is sufficient that the mounting doesn't matter.
