I am thinking of upgrading the speakers on an old Sony HTIB... the specific model is the Sony HT-1300D. It does allow me to change speaker distance, choose for satellite vs full size speakers, and crossover settings... notmuch else.

What do you guys think of these options...
1) Ventriloquist 12 with the STF-1 or
2) a pair of HB-1's with HC-1 center then use my existing Sony satelites and sub for surround and bass
3) just upgrade my Sony sub to a Hsu STF-1... (later the sub could be used with a pair of HB-1's in a den or lounge)
4) just use my crappy HTIB while I am relocated for a year

This isn't my main system... my main setup consist of B&W 600 series towers, center, B&W series in ceiling surrounds, Denon components, and the Hsu VTF-3 with a Vizio 47inch LCD in our living room.

I guess you could say this system is for a 2nd home/ small apartment & I have this Sony HTIB sitting around... I actually also have a Sony Dream System DAV S-300 sitting around as well... but I don't think it is very upgradeable.

Hi wildpanda,

You should try out the VT-12 ventriloquist system. If your room is 1500 ft^3 or less, then STF-1 should work out great. If 3000 ft^3 or less, then go for STF-2.

Thanks for asking!

Sincerely,
