Boring thread topic - but I'll ask anyway. I just ordered the STF-2. One question I have after looking at the pictures. The feet look rather pointy. They look perfect for carpeted floors, but I have hardwood. Are these feet safe for hardwood? Also, is there any problem with vibration?
Thanks.

I'd imagine HSU would suggest putting a throw rug under the subwoofer to keep the feet from buzzing on a hardwood floor. That has been their advice in the past for subs like the TN1220HO which also have spiked feet.

Many people have used them on hardwood floors with no problem. The overall heavy weight of the subwoofer makes the "jumping subwoofer" effect not a non-issue.
However, our official recommendation for better sound is to put a throw rug underneath the subwoofer. Dr. Hsu says it is for the same reason he uses sound aborbing foam on his walls. In our case, the throw rug does not absorb any bass but absorbs out-of-frequency sounds the subwoofer might produce when driven very hard and put under extreme duress.

Thanks for the fast replies! Will do. A throw rug is small price to pay.

Does the same advice hold for the VTF-3R?
Being allergy sufferers, our floors are cushion vinyl and I've currently got the sharp pointed brass feet in plastic furniture glides so they don't rip the vinyl.
