Hi Dr. Hsu,
I have an old Sansui Integrated receiver 777A, it has an single RCA called High Cut Output (fo=159Hz) 10V @50Hz. I think it is for connecting to a subwoofer but the voltage seems high, so I'm not sure if I can connect this output to the STF-2 Sub In single RCA port, please advise. Thanks.
HL.

Hi HL,
Here is the response I got from Dr. Hsu:
High cut output is indeed a low pass output (high frequencies are cut from this output). He can feed this output to the STF-2. The 10V is most likely referring to the maximum undistorted output. He should still engage the crossover in the STF-2 and adjust the crossover point and level to get the smoothest transition to his main speakers. If his Sansui has pre-out and main-in, he should also consider getting our HPF to keep bass out of his main speakers.
Sincerely,

Pete, thank you for getting back quickly on my question. Regarding limiting the high frequencies into the main speakers, would using the "High level input from Amp" and "output to speaker" in combination with the cross-over help in this case? or would there be some trade-off with this setup?
HL.

Hi HL,
Feeding the high level inputs on the sub amp, and then outputs back to the main speakers, will not truly high-pass the main speakers unfortunately. So one should use a high pass filter if possible!
