I've been reading avsforum and there has been a lot of hype about the new SVS Ultra 13.

Currently, I have the top of the line what HSU have to offer. I have a 3HO + TURBO + MBM 12.

Have anybody here have all 3 of these speakers to compare?

I would really like to know if this Ultra 13 can really out perform my current setup. Hard to believe that it can but you never know.

How much do you think I can sell all of my HSU set for USED? Just getting some ideas, ya know ;)

I had the 3.3 Turbo +MBM-12, but have never heard the Ultra13 in person...
I have heard the FathomF112/113 though... and I can say that the 3.3 T+ MBM is a match for the F113...The F112 is not a challenge to the combo.

But anyway I dont think that the Ultra is too far away from the F113 in the overall presence...Comparable seems to be the word and maybe the Ultra 13 is a little better for its response in the <25hz area...But above that they are almost the same...

Dont know more sorry...Hope this helps!

I think the Ultra13 is well beyond hype by now as test have confirmed its a great sub. Seeing as you already have a great combo I would not think you would gain much by switching, but its always nice to have something new.

PB13
HSU VTF-2.

Yes, have both. The VTF-2 is an old version and actually have a new amp coming for it any minute now. You can't really compare these two as they are two really different subs both in size, output and price. I have a large room and run both though, using the high tune (32)for the VTF-2 and 15hz tune fore the PB13. Running both helps to even out the FR in my room.

The VTF-2 is a great sub, but it can't handle low with lots of output. Its got major port chuf running 25hz tune and Pulse, so high tune pared with the Pb doing the lows works well. The HO on the other hand paired with the MBM I would think would be comparable. You get higher lows with HO over the 3.3, and the MBM gives you that extra kick in midbass moreso than if you had the 3.3.

greddy, I think you have more of a room issue than anything else. Your VTF-3 HO is placed in an area that opens to the foyer, and the MBM-12 is placed in an area that opens to the kitchen.

You really should try things with the MBM-12 placed sideways directly behind the couch. It is small enough and light enough where you can move it back to the side of the room when not in use.

As for the VTF-3 HO, have you tried running it without turbo to see how that sounds? Also, I would try re-orienting it so that woofer fires forward and the ports fire towards the fireplace, or perhaps try having the woofer firing into the front wall (at least 1-2" of space in between woofer and wall).

Thanks

Wow, PETE, you remember me? What great customer service.

I will try your suggestion and let you know.

I have tried using it without Turbo, and tried placing it sideways so the port fire towards the fireplace.

I have NOT tried placing the HO with the woofer firing towards the wall. But the port will be firing toward the foyer, that's not a good thing right? But i'll try it anyways and let you know.

I have NOT tried placing the MBM behind the couch. When you say place the MBM sideways, you mean place it so the port will be firing toward the wall? Or, turn it on the side so the woofer is firing toward the back of the couch.

I really appreciate you replying back to me. :)

I definitely remember you greddy, and it helps that you guys are the best and most gracious customers in the world too :)

Try it out with VTF-3 HO woofer firing into the wall, and let's see how that works out. You could always remove the turbocharger if you want to test how well things work with ports firing towards the fireplace.

As for MBM-12, I would place it sideways right behind the couch so that the woofer fires down into the floor, and the port will fire to the side.

One final thing that would be worth trying is to disconnect the MBM-12 and place the VTF-3 HO (without turbo) sideways directly behind the couch with woofer firing into the couch (1-2" of spacing in between woofer and couch).

Hope you find something works well for you! Take care...
