Hi - new user here.

I just received my STF-2 and tried to place it by my TV, whoa...
it generates a lot of interference! I thought that perhaps my signal cable was faulty so I dsiconnected it but still lots of RFI even with the STF-2 in standby.

Looking in the manual I see that it says to positon it no closer than 3'. OK so I'm putting it on the other side of the room, but is the RFI this thing puts out typical of HSU subs? Do the VTF series behave like this? It's a shielding issue, yes?

thanx

What sort of interference? Picture distortion or audio noise distortion?
If audio........ does it do it when the interconnect is disconnected?

If its a direct view crt and you get a speaker too close you may see picture interference.

Video distortion, I have a CRT TV and the STF-2 generates angled bars that sweep back and forth.

Its a shielding issue. Some Tv's are very sensitive to speaker magnets getting close to the tube. Simplistic bet is to move it away. I do not know what shielding the STF has but the VTF has "none" although it doesn't effect my Tv. Still that doesn't mean it will not effect yours as some are much more sensitive to this. I suggest you email Dr Hsu and he may tell you more about the STF shielding.

I have my STF-2 placed about 3 inches from my 32 inch Sony CRT tube. I get no interference whatsoever.

I thought VTF series WERE shielded....
