Hello everyone,

I've had a V-12 system w/ STF-2 as my home theater system for a few years, driving it with a Denon AVR-2805 receiver. The deck is a Denon DVD-2200. I've just now become aware of the HB-1 speakers and have read a couple of glowing reviews; I haven't yet had time to read much comment on the forum. I'm planning to change out the receiver to an Onkyo SR805 (or a smaller brother) at some point during the next year, and the player to an OPPO DV-970HD. There's a separate high-end stereo (only) system that I'm not going to touch. Since I'm an audio-first, video-second kind of guy, my first question is how much better is the HB-1 system than the V-12? (If I make the change, I'll probably use an HB-1 as a center channel.) My music listening with this system would be SACD classical, jazz, and bluegrass. Thanks in advance for sharing with me the benefit of any thoughts and experience you may have.

Welcome John!

I'd say that the HB-1 is a significant improvement over the VT-12 system. They are much more dynamic and can fill a room very well.

You could always start by trying out a pair and seeing how you like them. Opportunity cost to try out the speakers is low since shipping cost is low.

Let us know how it works out for you!
