View Full Version : VTF-2 acquired a hum. Ideas?

I have a well-loved, well-used VTF2 that has served me for several years.

Recently it developed a hum, despite the fact that it's already using a 'cheater' plug to eliminate the ground loop. It's a loud hum that doesn't change in volume much, regardless of the volume pot adjustment. It even hums w/o the sub cable connected to the receiver.

I've swapped power cords and even moved the sub to other AC outlets, no luck.

Ideas? I'm thinking the amp is toast and wondering if it's still worth just getting that fixed.

Hi oldskool,

Does the hum continue even if you unplug the rca cable from your sub amplifier? If so, then the amp will be in need of some servicing. Feel free to call us at 1-714-666-9260 (Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm pacific time) to get an RMA number and further instructions.

Thanks

Sincerely,

Unfortunately, yes. If the sub isn't connected to anything, the hum is still there and doesn't change in volume or tone. Thanks, I will call for an RMA.
