View Full Version : VTF-2 cutting out my reciever

Hi Ladies and Gentleman.

I finally had enough money to buy the VTF-2! I just installed the VTF-2 yesterday. And so far the reviews are true! Great sub for the $!

One problem though... After a certian volume it turns off my reciever. I've been running my set up for almost a year now without a problem, so I know that is not it.

My setup... Harmon Kardon AVR-320 series. Paradigm Monitor 3s fronts. Paradigm - CC-350 Center. And Polk audio rears.

The volume is about half way on the sub. It did it both on the 25Hz and 32Hz setting.

Does anyone have any opinions for a fix?

Get a new reciever?....................or turn the sub level down on the reciever and up on the sub.

Hmmm. How loud are you playing it when this happens? Also, how do you have this connected to your receiver. Specifically, do you have the speaker level inputs connected, or are you using the subwoofer outs from your receiver.

This sounds like some sort of a short in the speaker connections from your receiver.

Hi David,

I play it at about -20 to -15db. I have a Monster Cable going on the pre-out from my reciever to the sub.

You say there might be a short in the speaker connections from my reciever... Can you clarify?

Maybe the vibrations from the sub are causing a short somewhere where there are loose wire/connections. :D

Try a different power outlet that is on a totally seperate fuse/curcuit breaker than your receiver. You may pick up a ground hum, but you can use the cheater plug for now as its just an experiment to prove a point.
