Can it?
The receiver is set to small-fronts, so I guess I am not using the floor standing athena speakers to its fullest.
I am thinking of buying Ventriloquist VT-12 to match my STF-2 sub, and bring the floor standing speakers to my bedroom for a stereo only system..?
Do you think I am compromising anything in my home-theater setup by removing those floor-standing and placing the Ventriloquist VT-12?
Any help is appreciated.. :)
PS: Happy Chrismas everybody :)

How big is your room?
What is the total configuration?
Eventhough you have the Athenas set to small, you will not get the same soundstage with the VT-12. With a speaker that small, it can not produce that big of a sound field. Tone wise they may sound better.....but that is subjective.
I'd say buy some good bookshelf speakers and a good sub for a nice two channel system in your room.

I think it also depends on the size of your room. Sometimes floor standers can overpower a small room. One advantage of the small satellites is that they probably image quite well, since they are essentially a point source.
I've heard the VT-12 system, and it is amazingly good. In fact, I'm thinking of using one in the bedroom, even though I have some larger speakers in my "inventory." Space efficiency is the big attraction for me. (I haven't yet completely decided, though.)
The Ventriloquist system is a fabulous value in a small package. It performs remarkably well, and can hold its own with much more expensive speakers (IMHO). However, I don't think anyone would claim you can't get better sound. You just can't get such a quality system without paying quite a bit more.

With that being said I am ordering my set today with a stf3 sub. I just hope it can fill this large room. I am still looking for any suggestions on a good receiver to fit this package.
