I am finally getting around to putting together a home theatre system. I'm not an audiophile but have decided to center my system around the Pioneer Sc-35, Yamaha Rx-2000A or Denon 3311ci audio receiver and will most likely purchase one of the Hsu Research speaker sysems at the insistence of a friend. I noticed in this website that the company had recommended Onkyo and maybe Sony as audio receivers that work well with Hsu speakers. Would the receivers that I am considering do justice to the Hsu speakers? I would be considering maybe the Ultra 2 or Enthusiast 3 and adding the new Hsu subwoofer since I want to run 5.1 in my family room and use the additional speakers to just replace speakers in an old stereo system (old RFT profil 13 with an Infinity subwoofer). Thanks for your help.

Weird, no replies...
Even though HSU recommends Onkyo, any of those receievers will work well with HSU speakers and would 'do them justice'. I'm personally partial to the denon or pioneer (but own onkyo) but the best thing to do is compare specs of the recievers and decide which is the best bang for the buck for you.
As far as speaker packages... Primarily Home Theater or Music use? Also what size room? The VTF-15 isn't in the packages yet (just released this month), but it's such a beast it may be worth working with Pete to piece together something.

I use a Denon 3310ci (2010 model of the 2011 3311ci receiver) with my HSU setup and love it. The 3311ci has more powerful Audyssey processing then my 3310ci, so you would be in great shape with that receiver.

Hi taxmaven,
We've had many customers who use our subwoofers and speakers with Pioneer, Yamaha, and Denon receivers. In fact, in our own demo room we are using a Pioneer [VSX-1018AH] receiver, with excellent results.

Thanks for the replies. I am planning this system as a separate home theatre system. I have a separate audio system that I use just for music.
Just noticed that Hsu has just added some new packages which include the newest subwoofer. But now that i've seen pictures of this thing, in propsective to other peoples' systems, I am pretty sure that I don't have the room for it.

After googling information on home theatres, I got so confused with too many choices. I now plan on moving away from an audio receiver and will order an Emotiva XPA-5 amp and a UMC-1 preamp. Seems that this is a pretty rock solid base fro a HT.

If you haven't ordered yet, watch out for the UMC-1. It's been quite a cluster**** if you read the AVSForum.

I reinstate my recommendation of the Marantz Line.
Yeah i know its 90% Denon now!
I got a pair of HB-1MKIIs and hooked them up with my TN1220HO. The initial sound was pretty hard to match up. I let the Marantz do the Audyssey setup run through and looked at its findings. Once I hit save I was greeted with impressive room filling sound. There is no boom or overhang. Imaging is spot on and I am really surprised at how well it blended the speakers to the sub.
