I've been checking out HSU's offering for the last couple of weeks, after trolling avsforums. I think i'm ready to buy, but i'm curious about the tone of their speakers (I can readily find info about their subs)

I'm a fan of horn speakers but there are not a lot of speakers that use horns that are readily accessible to listen to. The most well known are Klipsch's. How do the HB1s sound? Are they bright like Klipsch's or are they more mellow?

thanks

I had the HB-1's along side of my Klipsch Forte IIs for a week. Even though I returned the HB-1's, they were very good for the price. Keep in mind that the HB-1's are NOT horn speakers in the true sense. The tweeter is just a traditional dome type that is mounted on the end of a plastic flare. True horns use compression drivers in a folded arrangement.

I found that the HB-1's imaged very well and had decent midrange. They were not bright at all.

We just bought ours a few days ago and love them. Here's my post:
