Hi
I've been getting conflicting opinions on whether to go with two subs for stereo or just one so i figured I'd ask here to get it right from Dr hsu's mouth:)

I would be considering either 2 STF2s or one VTF 3. Both come to about $700.
My room is about 13 by 25.

Thanks

Hi eddie,

Do you listen to any pipe organ music? Does your room have any large openings to other rooms?

Thanks

Hi Pete
No pipe organ music or any large openings. I get the impression that what Im considering is overkill?

No... The more subs you have or more power you can have is always better, because you can play the subs nearer the 0% THD...As you lower the gain of each of course!!!

No, not overkill, but I think you would be just fine with a VTF-2 Mk3. This subwoofer can fill the room nicely while extending to at least 16Hz in-room in extended bass mode.

How low do your main channel speakers play?

Eddie,
I have the VTF-2 Mk3 in a similar sized room. I would highly recommend it.

Thanks everyone,

I'm using Magnepan 1.6s.

So the VTF2 mk3 is the one. But what about stereo subs? Say, two stf-1s vs one VTF2 mk3s?

Oh if you got some maggies, you really need a sub. Any sub, quick... get that sub!! ;)

On a serious note I used to be a maggie owner. A sub is highly recommended. How big is your room?

Here are my old maggies:
