I need to have a music only set up near our piano where we want the speakers to show as little as possible. I am new to Hsu systems, but I know that the VT12 has some unusual connections. If we were to leave out the three rear speakers in our set up, how is it going to sound?
Cheers,

Why do you say the VT-12 has unusual connections? Seemed pretty straight forward to me. From receiver to center, from center to surrounds. If you use the rear center a wire from each rear speaker to the center rear. I have not hooked up the center rear in my set up but it can't be that hard to do.
Did I misunderstand your question? The connectors are the same as on most other speakers I've had.

It is straight forward for the VT-12, but different than any other speaker connections. :D You have to connect all channels to the center speaker and then the center speaker to all other speakers.
Since you are playing music, it will probably be just two channel music anyway. The front L/R and the center will only be used so it is fine to not use the rear surrounds.
Here are some things to think about:
Because you must connect the Front L/R speakers to the center speaker, it can be more difficult to hide the wires.
The center speaker is required for proper coverage of the frequencies. This adds another speaker that you might not want visible.
The center speaker will only be playing the low frequencies for two channel information. Therefore, you may have some strange things happen to the stereo imaging. However, if you are just using the speakers so you have music in the room, rather than for a sit down listening session, they will be fine.
I'm not sure of the frequency range of the center speaker, but if it is 80-150Hz, you could put the speaker somewhere else out of site. It would be acting like a small version of the MBM-12.I think you will be better off with two HB-1 speakers (or similar) for your listening needs. If you want a system that is nearly invisible, but will sound incredible, buy two VT-12 satellites for $40 each. Then purchase an MBM-12 (get your existing customer discount or you could get a quote for all three as a package deal). Crossover the MBM-12 at 150Hz. The VT-12's may play even lower so you could lower the crossover point, but I think that small speakers sound best when crossed over as high as possible.
