Hello there to everyone!

I've been trying to talk myself into ordering a 3.3 sub and had originally wanted to order HB-1's and an HC-1 to go with it. However, the speakers are going to have to be wall mounted and after doing some searching it seems the VT-12 system is very nice too.

How would a setup with the VT-12 system and a 3.3 sub sound? I suppose I could always upgrade to the HB's and C later once I figure out the best way to mount them. Who knows, maybe i would be content with the VT-12.

I read in an archive that the VT-12 was $199 with the purchase of a sub. Does that special still stand or ever come back around?

Also, anyone that can help convince me that this setup would be worth the money over my current 7 year old Sony HTIB speaker system PLEASE comment! It is hard for me to justify the expense for something I don't NEED since I already have a HT. It sounds ok to me now, but I don't have any idea what I am missing! If you can help, please do!

Thanks a bunch!
J

I forgot to add a floorplan so you can see what I am talking about. I should have probably been more clear in that I currently have small satellites and swapping the VT-12 system with them would be considerably easier than trying to come up with a good system for wall mounting the HB and HC speakers.

If I do go with the HB/HC speakers however, I'll probably just get the sub right now and use my current satellites with it. Then, I can pick up the HB/HC's at a later date.

Hey J,

It would be fine to use the -3 Mk3 with the VT-12 system. The subwoofer is very linear, and should work quite well with the Ventriloquist speakers. I would place the subwoofer in the rear left corner if possible.

There is a $50 discount on the VT-12 system when purchasing a VTF subwoofer.

Have a happy new year!

Sincerely,

Well, after talking to Pete on the phone I decided to order the 3.3 and VT-12. I figure I can always upgrade to HB's and C later if necessary. I'm SO excited!!

Also, I was wondering about turning the 3.3 on and off. My current sub plugs into the back of my receiver (regular 2-prong plug) so it turns on and off automatically. Is it possible to make it so this turns on and off automatically too?

Thanks again to everyone for your help!

Jeremy

That's great Jeremy, it was a pleasure speaking with you!

The subwoofer amp has a switch that can be set to On, Off, or Auto. Just set it to Auto, and it will power on when sensing a signal.

Thanks again, and have a great new year!

Sincerely,
