I have the Ventriloquist with STF-3R sub and the Pioneer 110 Watt per channel receiver, sub connected to the sub-out RCA.
Can the speakers be damaged by overdriving them with this configuration?

three inches out from wall. I have the brass spikes in coasters so they don't poke holes in the floor. After running at high-volume, the VTF-3R was six inches from the wall and rotated about 20 degrees. I wouldn't have believed it!

Sounds like this is because you have them on coasters.. I could see this happening just thinking about that config.. The spikes are digging into the coasters for footing and the coasters are "coasting" on the surface beneath when there is vibration. Use something that is more vibration absorbant and has better footing. Like a throw rug, especially if this is on hardwood. Throwrugs are ideal imo because they usually have a ruberized bottom to keep it in place on hardwood.
As far as damaging the sats/center with your receiver, I would say no. Perhaps if you played at insane sustained volume levels when the amp is clipping then you could as with most speakers, but you are within the recomended power range, so I would not worry. However I will let you know that I do not own the ventriluquist so somebody else can probably give you a more accurate answer.
I do have an STF-2 (first hsu purchase) that I have been playing with over the last week or so when I have time. Still listening and tweeking but so far I am pretty impressed for $399.
