newbie buying a sub!

I'm really stuck which one to buy

1) stf 2 $399 plus $24 for shipping

2) vtf 2 449 with free shipping?

I have a denon 3803 and will be receiving ascend acoustic 340's in the mail this week.

Which one and why would you guys recommend?

I'd get the STF-2. Most people don't use the variable tuning ability on the VTF subs anyway, so why pay more for it? :D

The STF-2 has a slightly more powerful amp and a newer driver with rubber surround, allowing it to play slightly louder than the VTF-2. For the VTF-2 to move ahead of the STF-2 in terms of output capability, it would have to be put in max-output mode, but you would lose bass extension below 30hz.
