Hello

I am renovating my HT room and would appreciate some feedback on the ideal location for a HSU sub. The dimensions of the room in general are 2.5m (H), front viewing 4m (W), 9 m length of the room. I have read some general recommendation that states it is best placed close to the corner walls and better closer to the seating position. The most likely places I have marked A,B in my diagram. I am also considering the VTF-15H. Will this unit be too overwhelming for the size of my room? Thw walls are double brick rendered/plastered with timber flooring.

Please advise where it will most likely perform best? I'll need to plan the built in furnishings/power/cabling around where the sub will likely be placed.

Thanks,

Hi asc,

Thank you for the nice diagram, welcome to the forum!

Position A in the front right corner of the room (as viewed from the main listening position, ie. upper right hand corner of the diagram) looks like a good place for the first subwoofer. For the second subwoofer, feel free to experiment, but you can try the front left corner of the room (as viewed from the main listening position, ie. upper left hand corner of the diagram).

The VTF-15H should work great in this room. You will be able to adjust operating mode, Q control, and volume so that the subwoofer is not overwhelming.

Sincerely,

Hi Pete

Thanks for the quick reply. I am planning to get only one sub. only. I was under the impression that the sub should be placed nearer to the listening position and that is why I thought of "B" placement. But if you think "A" placement is better than "B" placement, I will proceed accordingly.

Andy.

Hi Andy,

If you were seated closer to the back of the room, and if the room was completely well enclosed in the back with a full wall, then it would be best to put the subwoofer in the back corner. Given that you are not sitting so far back, then I think you will get great results by having the subwoofer up front.

Sincerely,
