When I first got my MBM-12 I had carpeting in the living room. I installed laminate flooring and noticed that the sub sounded a little "boomy". Thought nothing of it until I moved things around again. Whoa, what happened? I couldn't for the life of me get the subs tuned for one setting fits all. Well, I lived with it for awhile but I was always fiddling with the settings and recalibrating all the time to get the right feel and sound but it still didn't sound right from movie to movie. Then, I discovered that we had some kids indoor pay room padding (foam rubber material) to helping to absorb a fall from small childerns climbing equipment (my wife does in-home childcare). It wasn't being used, so I got 8 pieces that are 2 X 2 ft square and stacked them 4 high for 2.25 inches under both my MBM-12 & 3.3 Turbo. Man, the feel/sound sounded even better then when it was on carpeting! So, anyone reading this, make sure and get some absorbunt "whatever" under your sub! You cannot believe the difference that it makes!

That's very interesting Bill! That sounds similar to putting an Auralex Gramma pad underneath the subwoofer. So you noticed a significant improvement from your VTF-3 Mk3/t as well?

Yeh, it sounds more musical in tone. And prior to all of this, I was thinking about getting another 3.3 Turbo to help fill the room and now I don't need to.

Pete,
Is an isolation pad such as the Gramma or Subdude recommended by HSU Research...especially for floating, laminate floors?

I'm using a couple of Subdudes under my HO's.
(Figured I'd give them a soft bed to work on)

Sure, that would be perfectly fine. When using the downfiring models on a non-carpeted surface, we recommend using something like a carpet throw rug.

I'm using a Gramma on my main sub and a Subdude on my MBM-12 with great results.
