Does anyone have experience with the Rane parametric equalizers? I have just acquired a PE 17 with the intent of equalizing out the room resonances at subwoofer frequencies.
I had previously acquired a Feedback Killer, but its specs said it was down 3dB at 20Hz, so I sent it back.
The PE 17 likes balanced input and output, although they give all kinds of hookup configuration, warning that unbalanced is at one's own risk.
The STF-3R seems very picky about what's hooked to it. I'm using twisted-shielded audio cable. On the receiver side, the shield is lifted at the receiver and connected at the Rane. On the subwoofer side, the shield is lifted at the subwoofer and connected at the Rane. By connected, I mean that the tip is hot and the ring and sleeve are connected together.
I'm not getting classical hum from the sub, just a low level motorboating. The kind of sound like it wants to go into howl-mode but just can't quite get up the energy.
