i have these accend acoustic speakers
http://www.ascendacoustics.com/images/products/speakers/cbm170/170SE_lt_bk_hr.jpg
and am using just bare wires. i just dont see you could lock it in tightly. although i have not yet try it yet. i just dont see how it could get a stable connection without the wires falling off.
im a noob, this is my first time setting up a speakers, so..:D

What, does Accend not have a forum, or help with their speakers? LOL :D Did you notice the site and forum your on?? :D
Luckily those type of connectors are widely used. Unscrew them, you'll see the hole in the post where to stick the wire through, them tighten them back down.

sorry, some f***Ker over there banned me for no apparent reason.
how exactly do you connect them again? more detail would be greatly appreciated or better yet pics. i strip off the wires now revealing like 15 little wires, does all these small 15 wires need to touch the input on the speaker?
thanks;)

Unscrew the knurled part of the binding post. Insert all strands of one wire into the binding post hole (twist the strands before inserting to make it easier). Tighten the knurled part of the binding post. You need to make sure that you are connecting the same wire to the black binding post on the speaker and the black binding post on your receiver.

goldfish, I help moderate the Ascend forum. I can't do anything with accounts, but yours seems to be active over there.

Strip cable, twist strands together so they form one big one, insert through hole and screw down. Or you can get some banana plugs which you would attach to the wires and then insert into the speaker post.

in case that isn't enough info the holes for the wires are on the sides once you unscrew the binding post. just a tip...dont tighten it too much or you will cut the wire

it's thats correct, then it's so fragile. i think i need banana plugs if this were the case of properly hooking it.
btw, these ascend acoustics speakers are horrible. my $3,000 lcd sounds better than these pos.

you got it in right spot but you need to strip enough wire so it goes in the hole and a lil past the other side.
as for them sounding horrible thats surprising to me. i own em and love em. Try turning down the treble on the receivers tone control. before i did that they sounded pretty harsh. you may need to turn it down pretty far. are you using a subwoofer with them?

No. First time I had used them and I could tell no difference. It makes for a very clean install both on the receiver and the speakers.

I prefer "locking" bananas as they won't pull out when you move something and you are assured of a solid conection.

Or monoprice.com for the banana plugs at $1.50 a pair for the quantity I used. I used them for all my speakers that I ran cable for and terminated on a wall plate, as well as all connections on the receiver.
They worked great, and are inexpensive.
I just term'd the speaker wire on the binding posts on the speakers.
