Has anyone had a chance to use the new Radio Shack analog SPL meter (Catalog #: 33-4050)?
http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&product%5Fid=33-4050
Any idea if the compensation adjustments for the old analog SPL meter are the same?

I tried to locate one (I should have one by now) but the Radio Shack rep said they do not have any for sale anymore.

The Radio Shack rep was probably refering to the old analog SPL meter (Catalog #: 33-2050) that was discontinued in August of last year, this is a new one that just came out (Catalog #: 33-4050) and should be available now/soon. I wanted to see if anyone got one yet, and if it is basically the same as the old one. I plan on getting one as soon as I can find it.

In NYC. I live outside of Washington DC but the store locator came up empty in my area. I lived in New York for a long time so I just typed in an old zip code. ""10017"" they have it there but it is easier to call the toll free number to order it. I called after hours so I looked on line. I'll call the # in the morning to place an order. NA online though.

Thanks for the info! I live just outside the Washington DC area also and could not find it in any stores yet.

I guess I'll take back my 2050 and get this one instead.

Other than cosmetic differences between the 2050 and the 4050 they look the same to me?

I only identified the part by the number (33-4050). They still said "we don't have them ANYMORE". I'm sure the rep just didn't know it was a new one. I'm sure this will resolve itself in a couple of weeks.

For the same price, I may as well get a "new and improved" unit.
How did you find that anyway? If I search RadioShack.com for 33-4050 it comes up empty.
[edit]
Oh, search for analog sound meter to find it. A search for just sound meter gets only the digital one. Methinks they don't want you to know about it yet.
