Just got my STF-2 set up last week and was wondering...
Is it better to make volume adjustments on the sub or with the receiver, or does it matter?

Right now I have the sub's volume knob at about half and the receiver setting at -4db. Is it better to adjust the sub so that the receiver use 0db setting?

I ask because I'm disabled and can do fine tuning on the receiver easier than reach the back of the sub.

Thanks.

-4 on the receiver should be fine, but my understanding is that you might want to get it a bit above zero so the auto on mechanism gets a stronger signal when there is one.

Ofcourse, I could be totally wrong too, but that is my understanding.

As Curtis mentions the auto curcuit likes it a little hot so the sub turns on at low levels. I would set it a little hot in the Onkyo set-up menu and then you can just use your Onkyo remote to adjust the sub level to your taste ..... right from your armchair.
