I have hsu vtf2 - a few years old, it has had this same "problem" since I purchased it... it does not turn on until at least 70db (from 8ft). I have a Denon 2803 and turned the output up 12db (then set the sub level) using avia disk. Any suggestion to make the sub turn on and stay on in lower listening levels?

Hi TomJ,

Check your speaker configuration on your AVR and make sure you have your front speakers set to "Small" and Subwoofer Mode set to "LFE". I've seen something similar to this when I had the Front speakers set to "Large" and the Subwoofer Mode set to LFE+Mains. It was before I had the HSU sub but I suspect you may have something similar.

Also, When you say 70dB at 8ft I'm assuming you are using a test tone. What frequency is the test tone?

Tom, normally this can be resolved by setting the volume knob very low on the subwoofer and increasing the level for the subwoofer through the receiver. However, if for some reason that still doesn't do the trick, then you may just have to leave it in the 'On' position instead of 'Auto-On'.
