I'll probably pick up a pair when they become available but I'm dying to see a picture of them. Image link anyone?

Hi RatFarm,

I listened to the prototypes last week in Anaheim and they pretty much look the same with the exception of no vinyl finish and the new grilles. The prototypes were espresso (very dark brown) but Pete told me the only finish that was initially available was the black. The finish is very nice, not too shiny (i.e. not piano black) and not too dull (not the vinyl powder-coated look). The magnetic grille is also very nice. It is square to the top of the speaker and rounded at the bottom around the woofer. No logo on the grilles since they were prototypes. The HC-1 grille is rounded on both ends around the woofers and flush to the top and bottom at the horn. All in all I was very impressed, so much so that I came home with a VTF-2 MK3 and I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of the new HB-1's and HC-1.

Hope this helps,
Ken

Ken is pretty much spot on here. The general appearance of the new horn speaker is very similar, but the finish quality will be significantly upgraded. Also, the new horn is recontoured and is now a grayish color instead of a shiny black color, and looks more sophisticated while more or less matching the grayish color of the woofer. Finally, with a magnetic grille, the new horn speakers don't have the grille holes that are seen on the first generation speaker.

Thanks for the replys. I plan on getting a pair to flank my new LCD or Plasma (undecided yet) HDTV. Black would work very nicely. :D

Hi, Peter:

How r u? Fine I expect!!!

One question for you guys:
Do you have a waiting list for clients that want the new HB-1/HC combo? If not, when will you be taking the pre-orders?
I ask you because I have a friend here in Puerto Rico that wants the new speakers for sure...
Thanks,

What's up Cacimar? How are things in the beautiful Puerto Rico?

We don't really have a formal waiting list, nor a pre-order list for the new speakers. However, we have been taking down contact info for anyone who wants to notified when the new speakers are in. The black finish horn speakers should be coming in about three weeks, and we will have plenty of them in stock, so your friend should be in good shape.
