This is my second purchase from HSU in less than a month. I originally got a 2.3, and looked to get a second one (for my large, unusually shaped finished basement room) when much to my chagrin, the 2.3 was temporarily sold out. The 3.3 was on sale, so after Ebaying my PW-2200, I ordered the 3.3.
It arrived in typical incredibly-packed HSU fashion. I unpacked it and placed it where the PW-2200 had been. What follows next is hard for me to even believe, but paired with its 2.3 brother, I heard even more detail than before. I don't listen at incredilbly loud levels, and in fact I was playing back some reference material (Nemo, Star Wars Pod racing scene, then some sample Organ music and Norah Jones live). I did test its power a bit too, and I must say that I don't have a comparison to relate anymore. It is effortless, subtle, enveloping, and completely violent, if the source material demands it.
There's the customer service, too. Pete has gone above and beyond, and truly conveys the BEST, most honest and easygoing demeanor of anyone short of a personal friend, and that's no stretch. My wife in fact thought it was one of my friends calling, when I was talking to Pete about the impending order.
Thanks again, and oh yea, the shirt is great, too!
You guys should make cars too. I'd refer my friends for that, too.

The problem I see with HSU products is they are addicting. I have a 3 3 T and MBM, still want more because it justs better everytime I add a HSU product.
The customer service makes it even better and even more addicting.

I just tried these things together in max output mode. YIKES.
This is a whole new sound/feeling. I played some more with the test tones, and found that the sensations I experience below 20 hz in max extension mode (actually below 25 hz for me) are interesting; however, in a trade for the slight loss in sub-audible material, the added visceral stuff (the "kick" if you will) that I get in max output mode seems to be the proverbial cat's ass.
Yes, I said it, cat's ass. Sorry to be so technical.
Thanks again, HSU. :D

Have you done and A-B with the VTF-2.3 and 3.3? I am considering two VTF-2.3 which will most likely be paired with Monitor Audio RS6 and the like to make 7.2 in a dedicated room.
Should I spend the extra for 2 x 3.3s?

I'm running 2 x 3.3's and it is scary, especially when co-located. Running them in MO mode is clean and with Turbos it will vibrate the house off the foundation.

I plan to run them in max extension mode and cross the towers over at about 40 or 50.
bsoko, any experience with the 2.3 versus the 3.3?

No experience with the 2.3. I also run a MBM-12 (one with each main) and my reciever xover is set at 150hz. My 3.3's are nearfield near the seating area and when I watch movies they are in MO mode. I use them with the Turbos when I listen to music (unless the movie has alot of low bass). I have the best setup that can be and I don't see any reason to upgrade for a few years.

SubTom, any comment on the 2.3 versus the 3.3? Have you tried the same track with one on and the other off then vice versa?
Pete can you comment?

Hi abrickman,
The biggest difference between the VTF-2 MK3 and VTF-3 MK3 is the size of the enclosure and ports, which gives the latter higher deep bass efficiency and output. Also, the -3 MK3 has more amp power too, and a bit deeper extension due to a lower port tuning.

I have tried them in a "double blind" type comparison, if you will. It's hard to explain, because either of these subs is simply phenomenal, period. The simplest way to put it for the layperson (which most of us are) is that the 3.3 seems more effortless.
If you're a mechanical engine-type guy (I am a bit) think of the 3.3 as having huge torque. The 2.3 is, say, a 350 cu in engine - the 3.3 is stroked to 383 cu in. It all depends on your application, obviously. For my odd room, with all the cubic feet to pressurize, the 3.3 is a wise choice to augment the 2.3.
Lastly, yes, Pete, the 3.3 could suffice on its own in the room. But there's no such thing as too much.:D
