My room is 14x19x8.

I have four DIY subs behind my couch on our platform. All four using Elemental design 12" drivers (sorry, I don't remember the model number) and sealed enclosures.

I have 3 JTR triple 8HT speakers for my front soundstage. I'm finding going from my paradigm studio speakers to the JTR's, the only downside is at time localization of the subs. What Jeff at JTR c suggested in repostioning my subs near the front next to the JTR's. I support this suggestion, but I'd need to "refine the enclosures" to be suitable for front of the room viewing/placement ;)

So that being said, I am in the need of a another subwoofer. My hope is to also boost the visural bass effect in the room...I would like to feel the bass. The only limitation I have is the size of the enclosure....I'd love to have the VTF-15, but it's footprint and presence is just too big for the front of the room (it would be a great endtable). I think the sealed 15 inch sub or VFT2 MK3 would be the best in terms of footprint...

What are your thoughts on my situation? Adding a ported sub to a sealed sub array? Thanks for any ideas or suggestions you can provide. Please don't hesitate in suggesting alternatives to my choices...I'm all ears.

Ron

PS: I am using the SVS EQ to help blend the subs and tame the room.

Hi Ron,

If you want more mid-bass punch at the listening position, then perhaps you can consider adding one or two MBM-12 MK2 placed in the nearfield.

It's hard to say how well a ported sub would mix with an array of sealed subs, but if you set a 50Hz low pass crossover for the sealed subs, then at least they won't be competing against the MBM which would handle 50Hz and above.

Sincerely,
