Front/back reversal with 6.1

Just wondering if anyone here that has a 6.1 surround system has experienced or has an opinion on the problem of front/back reversal, whereby sound coming from a rear center speaker is misinterpreted by the listener as coming from the front. Is this a significant enough problem that going with a 7.1 system is highly recommended?

I am looking to buy the Ventriloquist system, and if 7.1 is a better way to go, then I may as well wait until it is available in 7.1, as I am not in a rush to purchase it yet.
